A portrait of failure:
I yelled "De-fense!" as loud as I could but it wasn't good enough. I'm sorry I let my team down.

Begun online in 2004 and published by Abrams in 2006, "Mom's Cancer" won the 2005 Eisner Award for Best Digital Comic, the 2007 Lulu Blooker Prize, the 2007 Harvey Award for Best New Talent, and the 2007 German Youth Literature Prize for non-fiction. It was nominated for a 2006 Quill Book Award, a 2006 Cybil Literary Award, the American Library Association's "2007 Best Books for Young Adults" Award, and two 2007 Eisner Awards. I am as surprised as anyone.

Aww...you wore your Grissom hat! ;)
They didn't lose by much though, that's not too bad...I guess...
Well, of course. The DEfense wasn't the problem.
That game wasn't even watchable from the comfort of my couch. I'm impressed that you made it all the way through in person.
R., as you know, I need the hat to protect my sallow, pasty flesh. Curse my Northern European ancestors. If it has the side benefit of making me half as cool as Gil Grissom (I know, it doesn't), so much the better.
You're right about the defense, Sherwood: they looked pretty good. I enjoyed an article after the game that summarized the 49ers' offensive strategy as "trying to bore the Ravens to death."
I had no choice but to stay: our transportation was a chartered bus that didn't leave until the game was done. And since I only get Candlestick every four or five years, I wanted to get my money's worth....
