I love all things about the way things were--a better time, I truly believe. It would be naive to paint "the olden days" with a wide brush of rose paint, but specific references to the neighborliness (is that a word?) and the interdependency of people who assumed you had character unless proven otherwise is accurate. Whenever I wonder why I didn't leave my Western New York State digs for bigger and sunnier locales, I read something like your post and get my answer. Tim Russert, one of our local boys, would have liked your post, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16899684.post-59130607403385232012008-06-16T16:24:00.000-07:002008-06-16T16:24:00.000-07:00What a wonderful post, Brian, and one that resonat...What a wonderful post, Brian, and one that resonates well with my background. When someone finds out that I grew up in New York State, the presumption is that I was a city kid, instead of one who grew up in a small, small, rural, rural town.

I don't know if I would have the same sort of familiar-people experiences you folks had if I had wandered back to Norwich, New York, last weekend. But I hope I would.Sherwood Harringtonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09575868746160608731noreply@blogger.com
